Mechanism of action

Purified inactivated rabies vaccine contains rabies virus that has been chemically inactivated to eliminate infectivity while preserving immunogenic epitopes. When administered, it triggers both humoral (antibody) and cell-mediated immune responses, priming the immune system to recognize and neutralize live rabies virus upon exposure. This provides post-exposure prophylaxis when given shortly after potential rabies exposure, or pre-exposure prophylaxis in high-risk populations.
