Anesthetics, Local
Anesthetics, Local is a Local anesthetic Small molecule drug developed by University of Alberta. It is currently FDA-approved for Local and regional anesthesia for surgical and dental procedures, Pain relief in minor medical procedures and wound management. Also known as: Ropivacaine / bupivacaine mixture to a final concentration of 0.125% bupivacaine and 0.5% ropivacaine, Ultracain D ohne Adrenalin 20 mg/ml, ATC code N01BB08.
Local anesthetics block sodium channels in nerve cell membranes, preventing the generation and propagation of action potentials to produce localized numbness and pain relief.
Lidocaine is a small molecule anesthetic used in various medical procedures, including surgery and pain management, often administered through spray form for ease of application and patient acceptance. It has been studied for its effectiveness in conditions such as lidocaine toxicity, surgery complications, and anal intraepithelial neoplasia in HIV-infected patients, among others.

Mechanism of action
Local anesthetics reversibly inhibit sodium influx through voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve fibers, which prevents depolarization and transmission of pain signals. This effect is localized to the area of administration, allowing for regional anesthesia without systemic effects. Different local anesthetics vary in potency, onset time, and duration based on their chemical structure and lipophilicity.
