PBAC
The Australian committee that decides which medicines are listed on the publicly-funded PBS.
Definition
The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) is an independent statutory body that advises the Australian Minister for Health on which medicines should be subsidised under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Decisions are based on comparative effectiveness and cost-effectiveness (ICER thresholds typically AUD 45–75k/QALY).
