Mechanism of action
Diclofenac, the active ingredient in Voltaren Gel, penetrates the skin to inhibit COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis in affected tissues. This local anti-inflammatory and analgesic action provides pain relief and reduces swelling in musculoskeletal conditions without the systemic exposure associated with oral NSAIDs.
