Mechanism of action
Apixaban selectively inhibits Factor Xa, a serine protease essential for both the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways of blood coagulation. By blocking Factor Xa, it prevents the generation of thrombin and subsequent fibrin clot formation. The term 'uninterrupted' refers to a dosing strategy maintaining continuous anticoagulation without gaps.
