Mechanism of action
Pentosan polysulfate sodium is a heparin-like anticoagulant that inhibits the coagulation cascade by binding to antithrombin III, thereby inhibiting the activity of factor Xa and thrombin. This leads to a decrease in the formation of blood clots.
