Mechanism of action
Nitric oxide (NO) is a signaling molecule that activates guanylate cyclase, increasing cyclic GMP levels and causing smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation. When applied topically as a gel, it increases local blood perfusion and oxygen delivery to the affected area, promoting angiogenesis and accelerating tissue repair. This mechanism is particularly useful in chronic wounds and ischemic conditions where blood flow is compromised.
