Mechanism of action

Estradiol and noresterone are synthetic or bioidentical hormones that inhibit the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, preventing the surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) needed for ovulation. Additionally, they thicken cervical mucus to impede sperm transport and thin the endometrium to reduce implantation likelihood. The low-dose formulation aims to minimize systemic hormone exposure while maintaining contraceptive efficacy.
