Local administration of ropivacaine
Local administration of ropivacaine is a Local anesthetic (amide) Small molecule drug developed by Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nīmes. It is currently in Phase 3 development for Local anesthesia for surgical and medical procedures, Postoperative pain management via local infiltration.
Ropivacaine is a local anesthetic that blocks sodium channels in nerve cell membranes, preventing the initiation and propagation of action potentials to produce local anesthesia.

Mechanism of action
Ropivacaine reversibly inhibits sodium influx through voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve fibers, thereby stabilizing the neuronal membrane and preventing depolarization. This blocks the transmission of pain signals and other sensory information in the localized area of administration. The drug is an amide-type local anesthetic with a long duration of action and reduced cardiotoxicity compared to some other local anesthetics.
