Mechanism of action
Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizer that breaks down into water and oxygen, creating free radicals that damage bacterial cell walls, proteins, and nucleic acids. The effervescent action also mechanically removes debris and necrotic tissue. It is catalyzed by the enzyme catalase present in tissues and microorganisms.
