Mechanism of action
By binding to the mu-opioid receptor, morphine exerts its analgesic effects by modulating the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and endorphins. This results in a decrease in the perception of pain. Additionally, morphine can also produce sedation, euphoria, and respiratory depression as side effects.
