Carminomicin I (CARUBICIN)
Carminomicin I (generic name: CARUBICIN) is a carubicin drug. It is currently in Phase 2 development.
CARUBICIN works by binding to DNA topoisomerase 2-alpha, preventing the enzyme from unwinding DNA and leading to cell death.
Carminomicin I is a small molecule. It is also known by other names, including Carminomycin Hydrochloride, Carubicin HCL, Carubicin Hydrochloride, and NSC-275649.

Mechanism of action
Imagine your DNA as a twisted ladder. DNA topoisomerase 2-alpha is an enzyme that helps to unwind this ladder so that the cell can replicate. CARUBICIN blocks this enzyme, preventing the DNA from being unwound and ultimately leading to cell death.
