Mechanism of action

Calcipotriol activates the vitamin D receptor on keratinocytes and immune cells, promoting terminal differentiation of skin cells and suppressing the excessive proliferation characteristic of psoriasis. This leads to normalization of the epidermal cell cycle and reduction of inflammatory cytokine production in psoriatic lesions.
