Mechanism of action

The system consists of a small catheter placed near peripheral nerves in the ankle region, connected to a disposable elastomeric pump that continuously infuses local anesthetic (typically liposomal bupivacaine) over several days. This provides sustained regional anesthesia and analgesia without systemic opioid exposure, reducing pain and potentially improving recovery outcomes after ankle surgery.
