Mechanism of action
Fluoride ions from both compounds are incorporated into the hydroxyapatite crystal structure of tooth enamel, making it more resistant to demineralization. Stannous ions provide additional antimicrobial activity against cariogenic bacteria, reducing acid production. Together, these agents provide dual protection against tooth decay through both remineralization and bacterial inhibition.
