The present invention relates to an immediate release orally administrable abuse-deterrent pharmaceutical formulation comprising: at least one pharmaceutically active ingredient that is susceptible to abuse; at least one natural gelling polymeric compound selected from the group consisting of: gellan gum, xanthan gum, konjac glucomannan, carrageenan, carbopol and combinations thereof; and optionally at least one surfactant, wherein said formulation exhibit properties related to deterring the abuse, via injection or nasal inhalation when being tampered. Said formulation provides an immediate release of the pharmacologically active ingredient when the tablet is taken orally and becomes an uninjectable and unsyringeable gel when exposed to aqueous, alcoholic, acidic and basic media upon tampering.
