The unique identifier (NCT########) assigned to every trial registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Definition

An NCT number is the unique identifier assigned by ClinicalTrials.gov to every registered clinical trial. Format: NCT followed by 8 digits (e.g. NCT04368728 for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Phase 3). The FDAAA Section 801 requires registration on ClinicalTrials.gov for most US-conducted or US-IND trials.
