Mechanism of action

The therapy works by administering gradually increasing concentrations of purified insect venom (typically from honeybees, wasps, or hornets) to induce immune tolerance. This process shifts the immune response from IgE-mediated hypersensitivity toward protective IgG antibodies and regulatory T cells, reducing the risk of anaphylaxis upon future stings. Maintenance therapy continues long-term to sustain this protective immunity.
