Mechanism of action
TRPM8 (Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8) channels are expressed on sensory nerve endings in the cornea and conjunctiva and are involved in neuropathic pain signaling. By antagonizing TRPM8, SHR8058 reduces abnormal pain signaling and neurogenic inflammation on the ocular surface, providing symptomatic relief in dry eye disease and related conditions.
