Mechanism of action

L. reuteri Prodentis produces reuterin and other bacteriocins that directly inhibit the growth of periodontal pathogens such as Porphyromonas gingivalis and Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans. The strain also modulates the host immune response by promoting anti-inflammatory cytokine production and strengthening the oral epithelial barrier, thereby reducing gum inflammation and bleeding.
