Mechanism of action
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a non-absorbable osmotic agent that retains water in the colon, promoting bowel evacuation. Ascorbate (vitamin C) is added to enhance the cleansing effect and reduce the volume of solution needed. Together, they facilitate rapid intestinal transit and thorough bowel preparation without significant systemic absorption.
