Mechanism of action

Plasma-Lyte is a crystalloid intravenous fluid containing a physiologically balanced mixture of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, acetate, and gluconate) designed to closely mimic plasma composition. It is used for fluid resuscitation and maintenance therapy to restore intravascular volume and correct electrolyte imbalances without causing hyperchloremic acidosis or other electrolyte disturbances associated with normal saline.
