Mechanism of action

Cefoperazone is a third-generation cephalosporin that binds to penicillin-binding proteins and disrupts bacterial cell wall cross-linking, leading to cell lysis. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefoperazone from degradation by bacterial beta-lactamases, extending its spectrum of activity against beta-lactamase-producing organisms. This combination is effective against a broad range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
