Mechanism of action
The drug is a botulinum toxin serotype A that cleaves SNARE proteins required for acetylcholine vesicle release. This prevents muscle contraction in injected areas, smoothing facial wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movement. The effect is temporary, typically lasting 3–4 months, after which neuromuscular function gradually recovers.
