Mechanism of action

Hydrocodone binds to mu-opioid receptors in the central nervous system to reduce pain perception and increase pain tolerance. Acetaminophen works through multiple mechanisms including inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and modulation of serotonergic and noradrenergic pathways. Together, these agents provide synergistic analgesia for moderate pain.
