Mechanism of action
Aloe vera's gel contains acemannan and other polysaccharides that stimulate fibroblast activity and collagen synthesis, accelerating tissue repair. Its anthraquinones and phenolic compounds exhibit anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. When used topically, it hydrates and soothes damaged skin; when ingested, it may have laxative and digestive benefits, though systemic mechanisms are less well-characterized.
