Mechanism of action

Methylprednisolone acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, translocating to the nucleus and modulating gene expression to decrease production of inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α, IL-1, and IL-6. It also suppresses T-cell activation and proliferation, reduces vascular permeability, and stabilizes lysosomal membranes, collectively producing broad anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects.
