Mechanism of action
By inhibiting the sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2), the drug reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to decreased glucose levels in the blood. This mechanism also results in increased excretion of sodium and water, contributing to its therapeutic effects.
