Mechanism of action
Maalox (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide) neutralizes gastric acid through direct chemical reaction, while Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an H1 receptor antagonist that reduces histamine-mediated acid secretion and provides anticholinergic effects to decrease gastric motility.
