Mechanism of action

As a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), loxoprofen sodium blocks COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, which are responsible for producing prostaglandins that mediate inflammation, pain, and fever. By reducing prostaglandin levels, the drug provides analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects. Loxoprofen is a prodrug that is metabolized in the body to its active form.
