Mechanism of action
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan that mimics the properties of synovial fluid, providing lubrication and shock absorption in joints. When injected intra-articularly, it reduces friction between cartilage surfaces, decreases inflammatory mediators, and may stimulate endogenous hyaluronic acid production, thereby slowing osteoarthritic progression and alleviating pain.
