Mechanism of action
recFSH is a recombinant version of the naturally occurring follicle-stimulating hormone that binds to FSH receptors on ovarian granulosa cells, promoting follicular growth and estrogen production. Higher doses are used in controlled ovarian hyperstimulation protocols to recruit and mature multiple oocytes simultaneously for in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other assisted reproductive technologies.
Approved indications
- Controlled ovarian hyperstimulation in assisted reproductive technology (ART) / in vitro fertilization (IVF)
- Anovulation and infertility in women
Common side effects
- Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS)
- Headache
- Injection site reactions
- Abdominal pain/bloating
- Nausea
Key clinical trials
- Optimal Stimulation of Hypo-responders Undergoing in Vitro Fertilization (IVF) (PHASE4)
- Impact of FSH Dosage During Ovarian Stimulation for IVF/ICSI in Granulosa Cells (PHASE1)
