Mechanism of action

The vaccine contains three serotypes of poliovirus that have been inactivated through chemical treatment, rendering them non-infectious. When administered, these inactivated viral particles trigger both humoral (antibody) and cellular immune responses, leading to the production of neutralizing antibodies against all three poliovirus types. This provides protection against wild-type poliovirus infection and disease.
