Mechanism of action
Gelaspan is a modified fluid gelatin (succinylated gelatin) that functions as a colloid to expand intravascular volume and improve tissue perfusion. It remains in the vascular space longer than crystalloid solutions, providing sustained hemodynamic support. It is used as a blood substitute or plasma expander in acute blood loss and hypovolemic shock situations.
