Mechanism of action

Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that selectively inhibits COX-2, an enzyme responsible for the production of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation and pain. By inhibiting COX-2, diclofenac reduces the production of prostaglandins, leading to decreased inflammation and pain.
