Mechanism of action
Dianeal, Extraneal, and Nutrineal are sterile solutions used in peritoneal dialysis, a renal replacement therapy where dialysate is infused into the peritoneal cavity to allow diffusion and ultrafiltration of uremic toxins and excess fluid across the peritoneal membrane. Different formulations vary in glucose concentration, osmolarity, and nutrient content to optimize dialysis efficiency and patient tolerance. These solutions work passively through concentration gradients and osmotic pressure without requiring active molecular targeting.
