Mechanism of action
Dapsone is a sulfone antibiotic with anti-inflammatory properties that inhibits neutrophil function and has mild antimicrobial activity against Cutibacterium acnes. Adapalene is a third-generation retinoid that binds retinoic acid receptors to normalize keratinization, reduce comedone formation, and decrease sebaceous gland activity. The combination addresses multiple acne pathogenic factors: inflammation, bacterial colonization, and follicular obstruction.
