Mechanism of action

Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, while gentamicin is an aminoglycoside that also inhibits protein synthesis and causes bactericidal effects. When used together as an irrigation solution, they provide broad-spectrum coverage against aerobic and anaerobic bacteria commonly found in surgical and wound infections.
