Mechanism of action
Chitosan is a natural polysaccharide derived from chitin that forms a gel matrix capable of absorbing wound exudate, promoting blood clotting, and creating a moist healing environment. Its positive charge allows it to interact with negatively charged cell membranes and bacterial surfaces, providing antimicrobial activity. The gel also facilitates cell proliferation and angiogenesis, supporting tissue repair and regeneration.
