Mechanism of action

Bergamot oil, derived from the Citrus bergamia fruit, contains flavonoids and other polyphenols that modulate lipid homeostasis. The active constituents work through multiple mechanisms including inhibition of cholesterol-synthesizing enzymes, activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), and enhancement of LDL receptor expression, leading to reduced serum cholesterol and triglycerides.
