Mechanism of action
Pregnyl mimics the natural hormone hCG, which binds to luteinizing hormone (LH) receptors on Leydig cells in males and granulosa cells in females. This stimulates testosterone production in males and progesterone production in females, making it useful for inducing ovulation and treating hypogonadism. The drug is derived from urine of pregnant women or produced via recombinant technology.
