Mechanism of action
An antibiotic lock solution is instilled into the catheter lumen between uses, where it remains in contact with the catheter surface and any biofilm that may have formed. This local, high-concentration approach prevents bacterial colonization and biofilm formation on central venous catheters, reducing the risk of catheter-related infections without systemic antibiotic exposure.
