Mechanism of action
Propofol is a GABA-A receptor agonist that produces rapid sedation and hypnosis. Remifentanil is an ultra-short-acting opioid mu-receptor agonist that provides rapid analgesia and blunts stress responses. Cisatracurium is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent that competitively antagonizes acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, producing skeletal muscle paralysis necessary for intubation and mechanical ventilation.
