Mechanism of action
Amlodipine blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle to cause vasodilation. Losartan potassium blocks angiotensin II type 1 receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that reduces blood volume and sodium reabsorption. Together, these agents provide synergistic blood pressure reduction through distinct pathways.
