Mechanism of action
This is achieved by blocking alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, which are responsible for the contraction of smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck. By blocking these receptors, alfuzosin reduces the muscle tone in these areas, allowing for smoother urine flow.
