FTO Risk Assessment
Top blocking patents
| FTO Score | Patent | Drug | Type | Vuln | Years left | Assignee |
|---|
How the FTO score works
For each candidate, we pull every Orange Book patent that potentially blocks (matches on target, competitor drug names, or assignee). Each patent gets a 0-100 FTO Risk score blending:
- Blocking strength (50%) — derived from
100 − vulnerability_score. Patents that are hard to invalidate or design around block harder. - Relevance (30%) — keyword overlap with target / modality / drug names + drug-substance flag boost.
- Runway (20%) — years to patent expiry, capped at 20 points.
Patents with FTO score ≥70 are high-risk blockers. Patents with vulnerability ≥70 (regardless of FTO score) are flagged as design-around / IPR opportunities.
Disclaimer: AI-generated FTO analysis is decision-support, not legal advice. Verify with patent counsel before committing R&D spend.
