A medicinal tablet comprises a compression-coated outer layer containing acetylsalicylic acid or a compound convertible thereto on hydrolysis e.g. acetylsalicylic acid anhydride, and a bonded inner core containing a mixture of calcium carbonate and an adrenocortical steroid hormone. Specified adrenocortical steroids are cortisone, hydrocortisone, prednisone, prednisolone, 6 - fluorohydrocortisone, 6 - methylprednisone, 6 - methyl - prednisolone, 6 - fluoroprednisolone. Specified supplements which may be added to the composition are meprobamate, reserpine, codeine phosphate, acetophenetidin, chlorpheniramine maleate and pyrathiazine hydrochloride. The tablet should preferably be made under low humidity conditions with dried materials to provide a tablet with a water content of less than 0.9% by weight. Powdered steroid is added to granulated calcium carbonate and the mixture compressed to form the tablet core which is then compression-coated with the acetylsalicylic acid compound.
