USPTO Abstract
The invention comprises the copper, magnesium, zinc, manganese, iron and cobalt salts of glucuronic acid and the preparation thereof by (a) reacting glucuronic acid with the desired metal; (b) reacting glucuronic acid or a metal salt thereof with an inorganic salt of the desired metal; and (c) treating a H-type cation exchange resin with a solution of an inorganic salt of the desired metal and then passing a solution of a metallic salt of glucuronic acid through the treated resin so as to effect an exchange of metallic ions, the resulting solutions containing the reaction product from any of the above processes being concentrated under reduced pressure and the concentrated solution sprayed under stirring into an alcohol of a concentration above 98% and cooled to below 25 DEG C., or the concentrated solution is sprayed and dried with hot air at between 120-180 DEG C., or frozen and dried. The processes may, if desired, be carried out in an inert atmosphere.
