In order to avoid the contents of a polythene ampoule drying out when this contains a water-soluble medicament, the medicament is dissolved in a mixture of one or both of propylene glycol and glycerine with water. The proportion of water is adjusted to suit the average external conditions of temperature and humidity. Suitable analgesics for this purpose are methadone, iso-anidone, dipipanone, pethidine and morpholinylethylnorpethidine.
