USPTO Abstract

659,132. Powder blowers. ROTHERHAM & SONS, Ltd., and ROTHERHAM, B. K. April 19, 1949, No. 10305. [Class 18] [Also in Group XXIX] In a powder sprayer operated by air pressure produced by relatively movable cylinder and plunger members 11, i4 respectively, the movable member 14 is operated by a toggle action including a link 33 which pivots about an axis 34 fixed relatively to the stationary member 11, the link 33 being manually operable. The' cylinder 11 contains the powder which is withdrawn by the venturi effect when the cup-shaped plunger 14 is forced upwardly against a spring 16 to force air up through a pipe passing through the bottom 15 of the cylinder 11, a second powder pipe communicating with the first pipe near its top end and delivering the air-powder mixture to a nozzle 21, Fig..3, (not shown). The plunger 14 is raised by squeezing together handgrip parts 32 of the pair of links 33 about the axis 34, hence raising cross-links 37 which are hinged to the links 33 at 36, and together at 38. A balancing pressure chamber may be interposed between the cylinder 11 and the space 18 within the plunger 14. The device can be operated and directed with one hand.
